Note: I'm no writer, just a sister with an opinion.

I just finished watching 'Talk To Me' starring Don Cheadle (who I absolutely love), Taraji P. Henson, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. When the movie came out, I had wanted to see it, but didn't put to much effort into doing so - my life as a mother, wife, freelanceer, doing too much and not getting enough me time, but I'll talk about that another time.

Since I'm on vacation, I'm taking the opportunity to catch up on a few things such as this. The story was awesome! A story of being aggressive and having gumption to go after what you desire (which we all need to learn) despite what our hindrances may be (in his case being an ex con). The performances were provocative. As is always the case with Don Cheadle, but Chiwetel is a very good actor as well.

The movie actually left me wanting to know more, not only about Petey Greene, but also about Dewey Hughes, and the relation to Radio One's Cathy Hughes. I'm sure I'll invest the time to find out more and write up a proflie for Urban Profiles, my latest and most touching project coming in February 2008.

I did, however, begin looking around for some info on Petey Greene and found a few clips on YouTube.

I'm actually most interested in hearing his broadcast from the night Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated and the D.C. riots ensued. I'll be looking for that too. In the meantime. I highly recommend Talk To Me, currently on DVD and would give it a 5 out of 5 stars.

So the Christmas holiday is behind us and I am slowly but surely recovering from an unexpected surprise. No, it's not my dope new iPod Nano (currently showing Vik Duplaix vid's heh).  Nor my ultra cool crock pot (yea, old ladies such as myself dig stuff like that).  But something altogether different.    You see, I've always known my @ss had gotten big, but I had NO idea how huge it really was until my brother in law forwarded me some photos taken during the Christmas celebration. Talk about depressed? I was like "who the h e double is that?!' I literally thought (Martin Lawrence's) Big Momma had infiltrated our party.  Lo and behold, it was ME!  lookin' like a drive in movie screen!  This is totally unacceptable.

Especially as I approach the big 4-0 this year!  Everyone who is already up over that hump, says things *change* from that point on.  That it becomes increasingly harder to lose weight.  Not only do I want to lose weight, but more so, just be healthy.  Don't want to go taking away from the years that God has already portioned out for me!

So, like the rest of the world, at this time of year, I'll be getting my big behind in the gym too!  The objective though, is to remain in the gym, long after the crowd has trailed off. Which is a big problem.  But I'm going to try to be optimistc about it.  New year, renewal and all that jazz (*smh* and laughing).

What would you guess that number is in reference to?

IT'S THE NUMBER OF SOCIAL NETWORKING JOINTS (and Instant Messaging) I'M PLUGGED INTO!  Ain't that ridiculous?! I was updating my Vox which has new features for listing your other social networking links. And as I looked at the selections list, I was like 'omG... I forgot I have an account there'.  I have accounts all over the place!

While gathering info for a future post, I happened up on 'Andromeda' a dope way to catalog your online music.  So you know I'm checking it out.  And it's also uncovered another item for the 'to do' list.   (Get rid of erroneous music files from server.)

Around this time of year I begin to hear more and more people say how much they are looking forward to the beginning of the next year. I say it too. But wondered today what that really means, and why it's so important to people. Reality is, on January 1 we still have the same life we were leading on December 31. Same job. Same relationships. Usually the same goals that didn't get accomplished the year before (gigglin'). So what is it that causes this magic of passing from one year to the next?

I'm really not feeling very *Christmasy* right now.  I'm hoping that changes when my college boo comes home tomorrow for winter break.  In the meantime, 'The Christmas Song' by Nat King Cole is doing it's best to get me on track...
